Updated 25 May 2022.
OK, time for the third in my series of ‘Best Ofs’. Last time I listed my ‘Top 10 Plus Size Sports Bras’. I’ve done larger backs it’s now time for larger busts. So this week I am going to answer the question; what are the best sports bras for big busts? Once again, I am not going to re-invent the blog here and will follow the same format as previous. If it’s not broke, then don’t fix it!
As we already know the single biggest reason women avoid exercise is breast pain. And as a rule, the larger your breasts the more likely you are to avoid exercise. Not good. So, what can you do if this is you? Wearing a good fitting, supportive sports bra is a very good start to getting you more active.
So, what do we do when so many shops only stock the ‘standard’ sizes, perfect for an A-D cup? Occasionally you may get lucky and find a DD+ cup but it’s only in one style. Two options, shop around and you may eventually get lucky. Or two, check out my list and broaden your search to the internet. It’s not as scary as it seems. There are many great websites out there that have a large range, plenty of information and a great delivery & returns policy. Still not convinced then check out my blog ’12 Questions You Must Ask Before Buying Your Nest Sports Bra Online’. Everything you need to know.
Before we look at my top ten, we first need to answer the question; what is a larger bust? Given that the average bra size for Australian women is now somewhere between a 14C and 12D I would say anything from a DD cup up would be considered a bigger bust.
Here are my Top Ten Sports Bras for Big Busts
It’s a given that ladies with larger busts shouldn’t have to compromise on support and comfort in their sports bras. And it’s also a given that ‘crop tops’, whilst comfortable, don’t offer the necessary support. As such my list is a ‘crop free’ zone. Crops are great as a lounge bra but not so great for exercise.
I have broken my list into two sections. Best wirefree sports bras and best underwired sports bras. I have done this as I have found over the years that of all sports bra features this is the one that most women are set on. You either love underwire or you are a wirefree fan. If you are a fence sitter look at ‘underwired or wirefree sports bras’ to help you find the right side of the fence for you.
I’d also like to say, I received no financial incentives from suppliers to get their bra on the list. This happens a lot when ‘best product’ lists are formulated. Thus, lists are often biased and do not offer the absolute best of advice. These are my picks from a life of sports bra experience.
