I ‘suddenly’ started running less than 5 years ago after a viral illness affected my brain and central nervous system. I found running really comforting and quickly progressed to half marathons, then marathons and ultramarathons in quick succession. Whilst it’s generally a very solitary pursuit for me, I also love hiking and exploring with my husband and our 3 kids. 

 

I’ve had quite a few ongoing health challenges since and have found that my love for running and my need for it has really nursed me through some really large surgical recoveries and has gifted me a large running community and incredibly rewarding life opportunities that I would have otherwise never have had available to me. 

 

My personal goals this year are to conquer the 96km Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast for which we have really actively engaged with our local community for fundraising, and also the Butter 48 hour Track Ultramarathon. I complete the 24 hour last year and achieved 136kms so I have a personal goal to knock off my first 100 miler, 200kms and 250kms.
