Boobs and Birdies: Finding The Best Sports Bra For Golf

When it comes to golf, the right equipment can make all the difference. The same is true when choosing the best sports bra for golf. A good sports bra will help keep you comfortable and focused on your game, while a bad one can distract you and lead to poor performance.

That’s why it’s important to do your research before buying a bra for golf. There are many different options available, and not all of them are created equal. So how do you choose the best sports bra for your needs?  Here are a few things to keep in mind:

The Search for The Perfect Sports Bra for Golf

When golfing, the last thing we need is a pesky sports bra that lets our girls bounce around and distract us from getting the perfect swing. To me, looking good while teeing off comes as a close second to keeping myself well-supported, so I can hit the ball perfectly. 

The ideal combination of head, arms, shoulders, and hips working together in perfect coordination is required to hit the cover off the ball. My breasts wobbling around all over the place is definitely not conducive to harmony. I’d rather concentrate on my passion than worry about what might fall out after each drive.

Golf is played best when you are relaxed and can breathe freely and deeply. A sports bra that feels like a boa constrictor around my chest is not the answer. This provides a unique challenge for a sports bra. The most comfortable and ideal golf bra will control my girls enough to allow me to swing freely and breathe easily.

There are many different types of sports bras on the market, so it can be tricky to find the right one for golf. You’ll want to look for a sports bra that offers good support without being too constricting. A golf bra should also be breathable and comfortable, so you can wear it for long periods without feeling uncomfortable.

Tips Fore You: Selecting a Golf Bra Can Be Easy as One, Two, Three!

When it comes to finding the best sports bra for golf, it is important to keep a few key things in mind. Here are three tips to help make the process a little easier:

Tip #1: Control and Support

The perfect golf sports bra keeps the girls under control without squishing them against your chest. I find a bra that offers full coverage with medium to high impact support works well (especially for those with bigger chests). There is a school of thought that compression sports bras are best as they squash the girls out of the way, allowing you to swing more freely. I would argue that the discomfort caused by squashed boobs over 18 holes outweighs the benefits. If you sit in the A-D cup range, then a compression sports bra may be suitable but not if you are D+ cup. A full coverage sports bra will benefit you more.

Tip #2: Comfort is Key

A full 18 holes can mean a lot of time on your feet (especially if you ditch the buggy) and you want to be comfortable. I find soft, cooling styles work best. You want a sports bra that is made from technical fabrics that wick sweat away from your skin keeping you cool and comfortable.

I also find wirefree styles work best. During a full-blooded tee shot your breasts move in all directions. As such you don’t want to continually adjust your underwire out on the course.

Tip #3: Swing Freedom!

To enjoy your game to the fullest, you need unrestrained movement in your arms and shoulders. Bras for women who golf are typically in racerback or convertible. Keeping the straps away from your arms allows you to swing freely.

You may be able to get away with ordinary straps, but I think that racerback is the way to go when it comes to completely freeing your swing and avoiding the discomfort of slipping straps.
